HIV/AIDS Education

The American Red Cross Disease Prevention Education Division (DPE) helps save more lives by developing, evaluating, implementing and supporting innovative prevention programs. Our programs are easy to use and are designed to reach a variety of audiences. They are based on the latest evidence of what makes health education programs effective.

HIV/AIDS Programs

The Red Cross, working in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, educates people on how to stop the transmission of HIV, encourages people to respond in informed ways to people who have HIV, and helps people apply the facts about HIV to their own behavior. These goals are accomplished through our educational programs.

• African American HIV/AIDS Program: HIV Education and Prevention
• Hispanic HIV/AIDS Program: HIV Education and Prevention
• Workplace HIV/AIDS Program
• Age-Appropriate Programs for Youth

1. HIV/AIDS 104:
   X

   This 4-hour class provides individuals with basic knowledge of HIV and AIDS. This course is for those who have ben recommended to take an HIV/AIDS awareness course.

2. Bloodborne Pathogens:
   X

   This 2-hour class covers safe workplace practices, reporting and follow-up exposures to infection, bloodborne pathogens and use of protective equipment. This course satisfies OSHA's training requirement for bloodborne pathogens.
