Youth - Disaster Services

Teen Corps members are trained to prepare for and respond to emergencies. They participate in all areas of Red Cross Disaster Services, including community disaster education and disaster preparedness presentations within the local community.

Teen Corps members have responded to every major disaster in Central Florida over the past 25 years, including Hurricanes David, Diana, Elena, Andrew, Erin, Bertha, Floyd, and Georges; the 1998 tornadoes; several wildfires; and even winter freezes. Red Cross youth volunteers serve as shelter workers, registrars, communications assistants, disaster assessment workers, logistics personnel, and general, all-around, "what-do-you-need-me-to-do-volunteers" in headquarters, the Disaster Operation Center, and wherever else they may be needed.
